Andrew’s roots are deeply embedded in Bury St Edmunds - born, raised, and educated locally, he has exceptional knowledge of the area. Having begun his career in estate agency in 1986, Andrew celebrates an impressive 40 years in the industry this year.
Despite the many changes the property market has seen over the decades, his passion for property remains as strong as ever. Andrew continues to live in the town and plays a key role in the business, overseeing both business development and marketing.
Ian brings over 25 years of estate agency experience, underpinned by a strong background in sales.
He is one of the few individuals to achieve a perfect score of 100% in the National Association of Estate Agents technical awards - an exceptional accomplishment that highlights his expertise. Ian lives in Stowmarket with his wife, Wendy, and their much-loved dogs, Hetty and Stan.
Ian remains actively involved in the business and conducts many of our valuations. His extensive experience and expertise enable him to offer the very best advice for every property and every sales situation.
Lynn Brown
Associate Partner
Lynn has spent many years working in sales and customer service, which is reflected in her ability to handle every situation with confidence and professionalism. She plays a vital role in the sales progression process, liaising with solicitors from the moment a sale is agreed right through to completion.
Like Andrew, she was born, raised, and educated in Bury St Edmunds, and she still enjoys living in the town she grew up in. Lynn joined the company over 15 years ago and is an invaluable member of the team.
Matthew Green
Property Consultant
With many years of experience in property and strong local roots, Matt offers superb knowledge of the area. Having recently moved home himself, he now lives in a village just outside Bury St Edmunds with his fiancée, Eloise.
Matt conducts many of our valuations and is known for his proactive yet approachable style. Alongside handling valuations, sales, and viewings, he also plays an active role in business development.
Enthusiastic, highly professional, and exceptionally friendly, Matt brings great energy to the team and is very much an ideas man — oh, and a big tea drinker!
Sophie Gidney
Office Manager
Sophie is one of the first friendly faces you’ll see when you visit the office and plays a vital role in keeping the team organised. With decades of experience in property, she is a true all-rounder, managing the full range of day-to-day operations — making her perfectly suited to her role as Office Manager.
Highly organised and endlessly dependable, Sophie is very much our go-to person for just about everything.
Jennifer Alderton
Senior Negotiator
Jen joined the team in 2021 and brings over a decade of experience in the property sector, having previously worked in both Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket. In addition to handling sales negotiation, Jen ensures the business remains fully compliant with all legislation and is also responsible for staff training.
She has a brilliant sales technique and a real passion for negotiation - it’s what she does best. Jen also provides clients with regular feedback on how their property is performing, supplying helpful reports and statistics so they’re always fully informed on progress.
Jen lives locally with her partner and young family.
Em Mortimer
Sales and Viewings
Em has a diverse role within the team, dividing her time between sales negotiation in the office and conducting accompanied viewings. She takes a strong interest in every client’s property journey and loves being able to help — from the moment someone books their first viewing right through to handing over the keys on completion day.
With a keen interest in interior design, she is perfectly placed to inspire potential buyers with ideas on how they can make the most of the properties she showcases.
Douglas Pup
Very Junior Partner
Douglas has a family background in estate agency and takes his role in the business very seriously. As Very Junior Partner, he is responsible for meet and greet communications, new business and staff welfare.
He has been with The Mortimer & Gausden Partnership for eight years and, despite being regularly headhunted by other agencies, remains steadfastly loyal to the firm.
Outside of the office, Douglas enjoys a wide range of interests, including sticks, tummy tickles and cheese. He has recently re-evaluated his work–life balance and made the decision to go part-time, allowing him to dedicate more time to his charitable work and ongoing studies.
